Chennai, Feb. 17 -- The Interim Budget presented in the Tamil Nadu Assemblyon Tuesday by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu said the union Governmenthas only sanctioned a meagre Rs 1,151 crore towards Disaster Relief assistanceas against Rs 50,922 crore sought by the state government.

He said owing to the impact of climate change, Tamil Nadu has in recent yearsbeen repeatedly confronted with unprecedented events such as intense shortduration rainfall, cyclones, and severe floods.
