New Delhi, Sept. 17 -- The Government today said that it has notified the National Policy on Geothermal Energy (2025), outlining a comprehensive framework to tap into India's untapped geothermal potential through focused research, cross-sectoral pacts, and adoption of global best practices.
It aligns with India's Net Zero 2070 goals, supporting diverse applications such as agriculture (greenhouses, cold chains), tourism, water desalination, and space heating and cooling via ground-source heat pumps, said a statement from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) here.
