New Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug. 11 -- In a significant step to combat the rising menace of cyber crimes, the Union Home Ministry has decided to empower District Superintendents of Police (SPs) with the facility to immediately block SIM cards and electronic devices used by cyber criminals.
The initiative will also enable police stations across the country to instantly receive suspects' locations, banking records, and telecom details.
The move is part of a larger national strategy to strengthen cybercrime prevention, with a special focus on public awareness campaigns in every village.
Telangana has been chosen as the pilot state for this program, and a one-day state-level seminar will be held soon.
