Shimla, Aug. 13 -- The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is issuing early warnings to the state governments, including Himachal Pradesh, to counter the rising threat of forest fires that have been taking a heavy toll on forest wealth.

Union Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh informed Kangra Lok Sabha MP Dr Rajiv Bhardwaj in Parliament yesterday that the ministry, through the Forest Survey of India (FSI), alerts state governments about the large-scale forest fire risks at least a week in advance and also provides real-time warnings.
