Shimla, Feb. 9 -- Town and Country Planning Minister, Rajesh Dharmani, today charged that the union government has done grave injustice to the people of Himachal Pradesh by denying the state Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) despite its special-category characteristics.

Interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of an RDG's PPT presentation here, Dharmani said Himachal Pradesh, a hill state with an international border and extensive scheduled areas, was inexplicably grouped with revenue-surplus states.

He maintained that the state has historically made sacrifices in the national interest, including the displacement of thousands of families and submergence of large tracts of land due to hydropower projects and other national infrastructure....
