Bhubaneswar, Aug. 30 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today stressed that both the Centre and state governments must work in close coordination to ensure that welfare schemes effectively reach the last mile, particularly the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Addressing the Valedictory Session of the two-day National Conference of Chairpersons of Committees of Parliament and State Legislatures on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes here, Birla said the true benefits of development can be delivered only through such joint efforts.
