Shimla, Feb. 12 -- The union Government has allocated Rs 2,716 crore for railway infrastructure and safety works in Himachal Pradesh for the financial year 2025-26, registering a more than 25-fold increase compared to the average annual outlay of Rs 108 crore during 2009-14. The information was shared in the Lok Sabha in reply to an unstarred question raised by BJP MP Dr. Rajeev Bharadwaj regarding expansion of railway lines and station redevelopment in the state.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the House that as on April 1, 2025, three new railway line projects covering 214 km, costing Rs 17,622 crore, have been sanctioned in the state. Out of this, 64 km has been commissioned and Rs 8,280 crore has been spent up to March 2025....
