Bengaluru, Sept. 15 -- Saransh Jain's allround brilliance and Yash Rathod's career-best 194 helped Central Zone defeat South Zone by six wickets on the fifth day of their Duleep Trophy final at the BCCI Centre of Excellence here today.

Central, chasing 65, overcame a few early jitters to wrap up the contest in 20.3 overs. Akshay Wadkar (19 not out) and Rathod (13 not out) steered their side home after a late wobble on a lively morning surface.

Rathod's dominant 194 in the first innings, Rajat Patidar's quickfire 101, and Jain's vital 69 had lifted Central to 511 after being put in to bat. Jain then starred with the ball, claiming 5 for 49 in the first innings and 3 for 130 in the second, finishing with match figures of 8 for 179.
