Aizawl, Feb. 3 -- Central transfers to Mizoram have increased significantly under the union Budget, with higher tax devolution, grants and sustained capital support underscoring the Centre's continued focus on infrastructure-led development in the northeastern state.

For 2026-27, Mizoram has been allocated Rs 8,608 crore as tax devolution, while grants-in-aid for 2025-26 stand at Rs 3,219 crore. Since 2014, cumulative central transfers to the state have crossed Rs 87,900 crore, combining tax devolution and grants.

Beyond Finance Commission transfers, Mizoram has been a major beneficiary of the Centre's Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure scheme, which provides 50-year interest-free loans for infrastructure creation. Betwe...
