New Delhi, March 30 -- Registrar General and Census Commissioner Mritunjay Kumar Narayan on Monday informed that the census is going to be conducted in two phases, with the first one to commence from April 1, 2026, adding that it will be conducted digitally for the first time, with an option of self- enumeration also available for people.
Addressing a press conference, he shared that the self-enumeration will take place from April 1 to 15, and House Listing and Housing Census from April 16 to May 15, to be conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board, Goa, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Mizoram, Odisha, and Sikkim.
