Chennai, Dec. 20 -- The Cyber Crime Wing of Tamil Nadu police today issueda public alert on USSD based Call Forwarding scam by posing as delivery agents.
A CCW release here today said it was issuing a public aert regarding a new andemerging cyber fraud where criminals impersonate courier or delivery service agentsto fraudulently access citizens' bank accounts and social media platforms.
In this scam, cybercriminals contact individuals claiming to confirm or reschedulea parcel delivery.
During the conversation, victims are instructed to dial a USSD (UnstructuredSupplementary Service Data) code received via SMS, typically beginning with*21* followed by a mobile number that belongs to the fraudster.
