New Delhi, Aug. 23 -- The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has levied a penalty of Rs3 lakh on VLCC Limited, for publishing misleading advertisements related to fat-loss and slimming treatments using the US-FDA approved CoolSculpting procedure.
The Authority's action follows a similar penalty imposed earlier on Kaya Limited for similar misleading claims.
According to a statement from the top consumer rights body, VLCC's advertisements claimed drastic weight and inch loss within a single session, portraying CoolSculpting as a permanent weight-loss solution. The ads featured before-and-after images suggesting significant fat reduction across the entire body, claims which the CCPA found to be exaggerated and misleading.
