New Delhi, Oct. 8 -- The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has held that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), with a market share of only 2.09 per cent, cannot be regarded as a dominant player in the Indian telecom market and therefore could not have abused a dominant position under Section 4 of the Competition Act, 2002.
A four-member Bench led by Chairperson Ravneet Kaur, along with Members Anil Agrawal, Sweta Kakkad, and Deepak Anurag, delivered the order on October 7 while dismissing allegations filed by CCL Optoelectronics Private Limited against BSNL.
The case arose from a tender floated by BSNL on December 12, 2024, on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal for the supply of two lakh splice closures for optical fibre cables....
