New Delhi, Sept. 26 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested an absconding accused in the murder of Avijit Sarkar, who was killed during post-poll violence following the state Assembly elections in West Bengal in 2021.

The accused has been identified as Amit Das.

Initially, the local police were investigating the matter. Later, the case was transferred to the CBI. After completing its investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet in 2021 against 20 accused.
