Shimla, Sept. 19 -- In a startling revelation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has unearthed strong evidence of tampering with a crucial pen drive linked to the mysterious death of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Chief Engineer, Vimal Negi.
The probe has confirmed that data on the pen drive was deliberately deleted inside Shimla's Sadar police station.
According to the CBI's investigation report submitted to the court, CCTV footage from March 21 shows ASI Pankaj Sharma inserting the pen drive into a police station computer between 8:07 am and 8:20 am, and opening files.
The agency alleges that Sharma deliberately destroyed sensitive data to shield those who allegedly abetted Negi's suicide.
