Shimla, Sept. 15 -- In a significant development in the mysterious death of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation's Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pankaj Kumar.
The arrest came nearly five months after Negi's death and raises hopes that several unanswered questions in the high-profile case may finally be resolved.
According to sources, the CBI took Pankaj into custody from his native village in Bilaspur. His role had come under suspicion after he was found to have retained and formatted a pen drive belonging to Negi.
