New Delhi, Aug. 13 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today said that they have arrested an absconding accused in connection with a rape case related to Post Poll Violence during State Assembly Elections in the State of West Bengal in 2021.
The CBI had registered a case in this regard in 2021.
"On May 4, 2021 the accused entered the house of victim and committed rape on her. The CBI had filed chargesheet against the accused in 2022 before the Purba Medinipur court. The accused was later granted bail," said the CBI official.
The CBI later filed an SLP before Supreme Court of India challenging the aforesaid order of the High Court of Calcutta.
