New Delhi, Nov. 15 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday said it has arrested absconding accused Tonia Langkam from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. He had been evading arrest for 16 years.
He was apprehended on November 13.
"Langkam is accused in a case related to the fraudulent submission of applications under the scheme Development of Commercial Horticulture through Production and Post-Harvest Management of the National Horticulture Board (NHB), Guwahati. Proposals were filed in the names of purported applicants from the Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley, and East Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh, leading to the approval of 173 applications," an official said.
