Kolkata, Aug. 13 -- The CBI today said it has arrested an absconding accused, identified as Usman Ali, from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, who has been allegedly involved in
rape case in West Bengal's post-pol violence in 2021.
The Central Bureau of Investigation in a statement said the arrest was made following a concerted effort on the basis of technical inputs from near a mosque at Ilaychipur, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
The CBI had registered the case on August 30, 2021, following a Calcutta high court directive to probe the post-poll rape and murders and other violences immediately after May 2, 2021 assembly results were out.
