Mumbai, Aug. 3 -- A Customs Superintendent of Air Cargo Complex, Sahar, Mumbai was arrested by the Anti corruption bureau of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10.20 lakh from a Customs House Agent (CHA) firm by promising to facilitate clearance of consignments, agency officials said here today.
The arrested officer, identified as Krishan Kumar, was after his arrest produced in the court, which remanded him into police custody till Aug 6.
According to agency sources, the complainant had demanded bribes at the rate of Rs 10 per kilogram of imported cargo, both for himself and on behalf of his senior officers, to ensure smooth clearance of consignments.
