Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 25 -- The abduction of more than 300 schoolchildren and teachers from a Catholic boarding school in Nigeria is "a shocking violation of human values and a direct assault on the world's moral conscience," said Baselius Marthoma Mathews III, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan.
Addressing the Asia-Pacific Diocese gathering of the Malankara Orthodox Church in Sydney, the Catholicos condemned the brutal raid in which armed militants stormed St. Mary's Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State, abducting 303 students and 12 teachers, according to the verified revised count issued by church authorities and Nigerian officials.
