Bengaluru, July 1 -- The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Tuesday overturned the Karnataka government's suspension order against Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vikash Kumar Vikash, ruling that the decision was made mechanically and without adequate justification.
The order comes in the aftermath of the June 4 stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, which claimed 11 lives and injured 56 others during the celebratory homecoming of IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
The tribunal, comprising members BK Shrivastava and Santosh Mehra, observed that the government's suspension order lacked convincing material and failed to establish direct responsibility on the part of Vikash.
