New Delhi, Aug. 28 -- The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has temporarily restrained the Revenue Department from proceeding with its disciplinary inquiry against Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer and former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede in relation to his alleged role in the 2021 Aryan Khan drug case.
On August 18, the Revenue Department had issued a fresh charge memorandum, accusing him of improperly seeking confidential inputs from the NCB's Departmental Legal Advisor in June 2022 despite his detachment from the agency, and of obtaining an "assurance" to influence the investigation towards a pre-decided conclusion.
