Pune, Feb. 16 -- Pune Police have registered cases against 150 workers of the BJP and the Congress following Sunday's clashes outside the Congress Bhavan here.

Among those booked are city BJP president Dheeraj Ghate and Congress chief Arvind Shinde, an official said on Monday.

The protest was organized by the BJP to condemn remarks made by Maharashtra Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal, who had compared 18th century Mysore king Tipu Sultan and 17th century Maratha Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji in the context of both rulers having waged wars with the British Raj. The BJP leaders, however, objected to Tipu Sultan being considered on par with Chhatrapati Shivaji and alluded to his attacks on Hindu chieftans.
