Hyderabad, Dec. 31 -- The Telangana police have registered a case against popular YouTuber Anvesh for his alleged derogatory remarks against Hindu deities.
The case was filed following a complaint lodged by film actress and BJP leader Karate Kalyani on Tuesday.
Anvesh has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, which deals with publishing or transmitting obscene content online.
Police officers confirmed that notices will be issued soon to record his statement as part of the investigation.
The controversy erupted after Anvesh released a video criticising comments made recently by Telugu actor Shivaji regarding actresses' attire.
