New Delhi, Sept. 2 -- The Supreme Court today disposed of a plea filed by cartoonist Hemant Malviya, who was facing criminal proceedings for publishing a caricature allegedly portraying Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in an undignified manner.

A Bench comprising Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice N.V. Anjaria recorded that Malviya had complied with its earlier order by posting an unconditional apology on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.

"We see no reason to disbelieve this statement," the court observed while making absolute the interim bail earlier granted to him.
