Chennai, Aug. 9 -- The Airline Pilots' Association of India (ALPA) has urged the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) to carry out reforms to include line pilots in the investigations of aircraft accidents.
"The presence of a line pilot on an aircraft crash investigation team is not a luxury but a necessity. Their insights bridge the critical gap between technical assessments and operational realities. Incorporating their expertise ensures more accurate causal analysis, better training recommendations, and a stronger safety culture across the aviation sector," ALPA said in a letter to the DGCA on July 25, a copy of which was released to the media on Saturday.
