Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 7 -- Carbon emissions in the Kattakada Assembly constituency in Kerala have decreased by 46.75%, according to the second carbon audit report, marking the first time in the country that a constituency has been audited twice to assess progress.
The scientific study examined carbon emissions in six gram panchayats of the constituency and across five socio-economic sectors. While Kattakada has recorded remarkable progress in reducing carbon emissions, the report notes that the constituency still remains carbon-positive, with all six gram panchayats emitting more carbon than they absorb.
