Siliguri, Oct. 4 -- Four people were killed, three of the women, and three others seriously injured when a four-wheeler, in which they were heading for Gangtok, skidded off the road and tumbled down to nearly 5 ft below into a gorge in West Bengal's Kalimpong district last night, official sources said today.
The injured, who were first admitted to the local hospital in Kalimpong, have been taken to the Sir Tashi Namgyal Memorial Hospital in Gangtok.
The mishap happened yesterday around 8 pm in the dark when the SUV from Putharjhora of Odlabari in Jalpaiguri, which was speeding uphill for Gangok, veered off the rain-drenched road and rolled down the gorge at Kirni in Melli block of NH 10 in the Kalimpong district.
