New Delhi, Dec. 12 -- : To tackle the air pollution crisis in the national capital region, the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) on Friday announced the constitution of an expert committee which will focus on vehicular emissions, the lead contributor to Delhi's PM 2.5 load.
Vehicle tailpipes release nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and volatile organic compounds, a mix that feeds the city's toxic air. The problem intensifies in winter, when low temperatures and stagnant winds prevent pollutants from dispersing, leaving residents to breathe dirtier air.
Recognising the crisis, the agency announced a panel to focus on vehicular emissions.
