Bengaluru, Feb. 4 -- Dinesh Madhavan, President (Group Oncology and International), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited, on Wednesday said cancer could be brought under mandatory reporting in India as discussions continue at policy and parliamentary levels, stressing the need for stronger public-private collaboration to address the growing disease burden.
Madhavan said cancer is currently not classified as a notifiable disease at the national level, but sustained advocacy and awareness efforts have helped push the issue into mainstream policy discussions. He said parliamentary forums, including a Standing Committee on Health, have examined the proposal and recommended strengthening cancer reporting mechanisms.
