Phnom Penh, May 28 -- Cambodian troops briefly clashed with Thai soldiers on Wednesday morning at a disputed border area, a Cambodian army spokesperson confirmed.



"There was an armed clash between Cambodian and Thai troops for about 10 minutes at a border area, but I don't know yet who opened fire first," Cambodian Army spokesperson Mao Phalla told Xinhua over the telephone.



Phalla said the motive for the clash is unknown yet, and immediate information on casualties is unavailable. He said the situation has calmed down after local commanders of both sides negotiated with each other and ordered a ceasefire.
