Kolkata, Feb. 26 -- The Calcutta High Court has sought 100 judicial officers each from Jharkhand and Odisha to expedite the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in West Bengal.

The move follows directions from the Supreme Court of India, which had said that judges from neighbouring states could be requisitioned if required.

Sources in the court said the High Court formally communicated with the authorities in Jharkhand and Odisha on Thursday, informing them of the requirement.

The decision comes amid concerns flagged by the Supreme Court over a lack of coordination between the state government and the Election Commission of India during the SIR process.
