Kolkata, Sept. 26 -- The Calcutta High Court today directed the closure of all student hostels affiliated with Kolkata's Jadavpur University throughout the Durga Puja vacation.

A Division Bench comprising Justice Sujay Paul and Justice Smita Das De instructed university authorities to shut down the hostels within 48 hours and keep them closed until the end of the festive break.

The court emphasised that the measure aims to prevent unauthorised entry by outsiders during the vacation period.

The Bench further advised university officials to seek police assistance if needed to enforce the closure and maintain security.
