Kolkata, June 30 -- Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the law college gang-rape case - in which students allegedly linked to the ruling Trinamool Congress are involved - the West Bengal government faced further embarrassment today as the Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI probe into the murder of three BJP workers in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district that happened six years ago.
The murders, allegedly committed in 2019, had links to Shahjahan Sheikh, who has since been suspended from the Trinamool Congress.
Justice Joy Sengupta of the High Court passed the order, directing the Central Bureau of Investigation to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to handle the case.
