Kolkata, Feb. 2 -- The Calcutta High Court on Monday directed the Pollution Control Board and police authorities not to permit the use of illegal and hazardous firecrackers during the observance of Shab-e-Barat.
The court also directed that no firecrackers can be used from 10 pm to 6 am.
A division bench presided over by Chief Justice Sujoy Paul directed the PCB and the police authorities to ensure that "no firecrackers which are not permissible and hazardous to environment, are permitted to be used during the observance of Shab-e-Barat."The judges gave the directive after a petitioner sought the court's direction to ensure no illegal firecrackers are used by the people and that a time limit was fixed for using the firecrackers.
