Bhubaneswar, Sept. 25 -- A compliance audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has revealed that private special schools for children with diverse disabilities in Odisha are ill-maintained and under-equipped.
The audit, which covered 65 schools run by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in eight districts from 2018 to 2023, was conducted to assess whether the schools were maintaining required standards. The report stated that 23 (35 percent) of the sampled schools were operating without proper registration, as mandated by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.
