Shimla, Dec. 31 -- Himachal Pradesh Council of Ministers on Tuesday gave its nod to the development of a new world-class township near Chandigarh, approving the acquisition of around 3,000 bigha of land at Shitalpur in the Baddi area of Solan district.
The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, as part of the state government's plan to promote planned urbanisation and boost economic activity along the industrial belt.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said the land would be acquired by the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) for the proposed township.
