Agartala, March 13 -- Leader of the Opposition, and CPM State Secretary of Tripura, Jitendra Chaudhury, accused the central government on Wednesday of persuading activities beyond the constitution, like issuing notification of rules for the implementation of the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA), 2019 ahead of the Lok Sabha poll, to polarize the vote along religious lines.

Chaudhury said, "The whole country is against the CAA because it is not according to our Constitution. It was passed in 2019, but for the last four years, PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah could not execute it, apprehending the reaction. But, just before the general election, it was implemented just to instigate Hindu sentiment."
