Amritsar, July 15 -- The Punjab State Election Commission has announced that by-elections for 90 sarpanch (village heads) and 1,771 panch (village council members) seats will be held across the state on July 27. Political activities have intensified, especially in districts like Amritsar, where preparations are currently underway for the smooth conduct of elections.

In Amritsar district, elections will take place for 10 sarpanch and 104 panch positions. The nomination process is ongoing, and candidates can file their nominations until July 17. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on July 18, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is July 19.
