Chandigarh, Sept. 24 -- The Election Commission today announced by-election for a vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Punjab with voting scheduled for October 24.

Nominations will begin on October 6, according to an official notification.

The seat fell vacant after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjeev Arora resigned from the Rajya Sabha following his election as an MLA from Ludhiana West in a by-election held in June 2025.

Arora secured a victory in the Ludhiana West bypoll by a margin of 10,637 votes, prompted by the death of incumbent MLA Gurpreet Singh Gogi. Following his win, Arora was appointed Punjab's Minister for Industry and NRI Affairs.
