Thiruvananthapuram, June 15 -- The rising number of butcher shops and the lack of a proper meat waste disposal mechanism by the City Corporation pose a serious threat to aviation safety,as more than 10 bird strikes have been reported at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport so far this year.

Bird strikes are a serious aviation safety hazard that can lead to severe damage to aircraft, endanger passengers and crew, and result in costly disruptions, sources said.

One of the primary causes of these incidents is the attraction of scavenger birds, such as kites and crows, to improperly managed meat waste.

It is visible that several butcher shops operate close to the airport, often disposing of waste openly or without proper regulation.
