Sofia, July 4 -- Bulgaria's government, led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, survived a third no-confidence motion in Parliament today, less than six months after taking office.

The motion, submitted by opposition parties on June 27, accused the government of failing in its fiscal policy. However, it received support from only 54 deputies in the 240-seat National Assembly, while 130 lawmakers voted against it.

To pass, a no-confidence motion must be supported by a majority of more than half of all members of the National Assembly. During Thursday's parliamentary debate, Dragomir Stoynev, chairperson of the 'BSP - United Left' parliamentary group, which is part of the ruling coalition, defended the government's fiscal approach. ...
