Thruvananthapuram, Feb. 1 -- Visa relaxations for foreign tourists, development of major tourist destinations, financial assistance for homestays, and promotion of medical tourism will benefit the growth of the tourism sector, Kerala Tourism Development Association (KTDA) General Secretary Kottukal Krishnakumar and Treasurer Siji Nair said in a statement on Saturday.

"Providing financial assistance to homestays through Mudra loans, developing fifty major tourist destinations, and expanding regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme will also strengthen the tourism sector," they said.

"A special project for South Indian tourism development was expected, but it was not included, they added.
