Bengaluru, Feb. 1 -- Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalaavadi Narayanaswamy, on Sunday said the union Budget 2026-27 was not designed to gain short-term popularity but was a "youth power budget" with a clear focus on long-term growth and employment generation.
After viewing the Budget at the BJP State Office 'Jagannath Bhavan' in Malleshwaram, he told reporters that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had consciously avoided appeasement of any section.
He said the Budget neither imposed excessive taxes nor favoured any particular group. Welcoming the strong thrust given to the MSME sector, Narayanaswamy said such measures would encourage youth participation and emerge as a key driver of job creation.
