New Delhi, Jan. 1 -- Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Thursday announced the nationwide rollout of Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), which is also known as Wi-Fi Calling, an official statement said.
This advanced service is now available to all BSNL customers across telecom circles in the country. VoWiFi allows customers to make and receive voice calls and messages over a WiFi network, which ensures flawless connectivity in areas with weak mobile signals, including homes, offices, basements, and remote locations.
It is an IMS-based service that supports seamless handovers between WiFi and mobile networks. So, calls can now be made with a customer's existing mobile dialer and phone number without needing third-party applications.
