Jammu, May 10 -- Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing on Border Security Force (BSF) posts along the International Boundary (IB) in the Jammu sector late on Friday night, prompting a strong and calibrated response from Indian forces, officials said on Saturday. According to BSF officials, the firing began around 9pm on May 9 without any provocation. In response, BSF troops retaliated in a "commensurate manner," inflicting "widespread damage" to the posts and assets of the Pakistan Rangers.
