Shillong, Aug. 12 -- The Border Security Force (BSF) has been put on a 'high alert' along the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya in view of Independence Day.



"Operation Alert" has been launched to thwart any disruption by inimical forces to India during the Independence Day celebrations, Inspector General of BSF (Meghalaya Frontier) O.P. Upadhyay said.



He said the BSF has deployed additional troops in forward border locations and senior officers From FTR HQ and Sector HQs have moved to border and supervising the operation.



"The operation involves intensified area domination, round-the-clock patrolling, surprise naka checks and riverine patrols to plug gaps in the border," Upadhyay said.
