Agartala, Dec. 23 -- A BSF jawan of the 97th Battalion sustained bullet injuries while on duty along the Maheshpur border with Bangladesh in Dharmanagar of North Tripura, sources said.
The jawan, identified as Vipin Debbarma (35), was patrolling when he was shot at twice from behind, BSF sources said.
He fell to the ground after being struck in the left shoulder and was promptly shifted to Dharmanagar hospital. The attending physician provided treatment to stop the bleeding before referring him to GBP Hospital in Agartala.
The doctor reported that the injured jawan, Vipin Debbarma, is currently in stable condition. However, his shoulder injury requires further healing.
