Agartala, April 21 -- A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was critically injured after allegedly attempting suicide with his service rifle on Monday in Maharani, under Tripura's Gomati district.
The jawan, identified as 24-year-old Mani Kundan S from Tamil Nadu, was posted at Amrit Para Border Outpost, police said.
According to the report, he reportedly shot himself on the left side of his chest using his service weapon. His colleagues took him to Natunbazar Hospital and later shifted him to Gomati District Hospital, said police.
"The BSF personnel was brought in with a gunshot wound to the chest, suspected to be self-inflicted. After initial treatment, he was urgently referred to Agartala Govt Medical College," police added.
